On occasion my art extends beyond writing. In 2019, I began a series of digital paintings inspired by the genius work of Gerald Murphy. Each of my pieces represents a person or people who mean a great deal to me. Through the simplest of shapes, I distill their story.

Josh was raised in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri where he was homeschooled on a cattle farm. He moved to LA in 1997 to pursue filmmaking. After graduating with honors from Art Center College of Design, he began writing for the hit Showtime series The L Word. Soon after, he joined the international phenomenon, Desperate Housewives. While there, the series was nominated for both Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, and he was nominated for a Writer’s Guild of America Award for his episode, Don’t Look at Me. In 2013 he joined the Freeform series, Chasing Life, as a writer and producer. His debut novel, Daisies, was published by Diversion Books in 2014. He began work as writer/producer for the hit MTV series Finding Cater in 2015. Soon, he was placed on the Tracking Board’s Young and Hungry List as one of The Top 100 Writer’s Working In Hollywood. In 2016, 2017, and 2018, he wrote pilots for ABC, FOX, and NBC respectively.

The Valentine’s Day movie he co-wrote for Freeform, The Thing About Harry, aired in 2020 and was nominated for GLAAD’s Outstanding TV Movie Award in 2021. His sophomore novel Still The Night Call was released in 2022 and was named Kirkus Reviews “Best Indie Book” as well as "Best Literary Fiction of 2022" by Indie Reader and Readers' Favorite. In 2023 his novel Heaven & Earth was a #1 Best Seller on Amazon and was named an "Editor's Pick" for Publishers Weekly/Booklife. Senter's work has been praised for its humor, heart, and honesty. His knack for tackling sensitive subjects and creating relatable characters and stories that resonate with modern audiences is unparalleled. Additionally, he's considered a role model for aspiring writers and a trailblazer for LGBTQ+ representation in Hollywood.

In 2021 he joined the School of Cinematic Arts at USC as a professor of TV writing to help inspire the next generation of storytellers.
